Police confirm killing of 4 in Plateau

The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the killing of four persons in Kwal village of Bassa Local Government Area of the state.

ASP Ubah Gabriel, the spokesperson for the command confirmed the killing to Daily Trust yesterday, adding that the incident occurred on Sunday night.

“Four persons were killed in the attack but there was no loss of properties. The command has deployed security personnel to the area to ensure normalcy,” he said.

A source from the area told our correspondent that another person was reportedly killed in Miyango town of the council area (Bassa LGA) following the killing of the four persons by gunmen.

He said, “The gunmen stormed the area around 10 pm on motorcycles and went straight to a provision shop and shot dead the owner of the shop after the attack in Kwal.”

According to the source, the two incidents have generated serious tension in the affected areas with many residents fleeing in fear of possible escalation in the absence of adequate security personnel to tackle the situation.
